Wynwood / Midtown / Design District
The Wynwood, Midtown and Design Districts have become the flocking place of more refined, culture, quality and authenticity-seeking trendsetters that range from the struggling artist to the chic affluent. This area has sprung up, seemingly out of thin air over the past few years. Now garnering diverse offerings, it is a force to be reckoned with and its centralized, South Florida locale definitely helps. Companies with longevity frequently consider acquiring a foothold in this growing avant-garde community, while they still can, as it becomes the center for locals’ vast needs. These areas in Miami can expect to see a lot of growth, which also means the best in accompanying retailer support.
Big developers are pouring billions of dollars into these areas to continue the well-on its-way gentrification of the surrounding neighborhoods. Exponential growth is anticipated for the foreseeable future.
Miami’s Design District is already home to more than 60 luxury retailers and will welcome at least 40 more when the first phase of a new project initiates. The area can look forward to a mixed-use development with 1.1 million square feet of retail, a hotel, low-rise residential units, restaurants, four parking garages and is planned around a landscaped pedestrian promenade. Retailers recognize that this area provides a rarely found international, artistic, and cultural feel. Miami is young, which, means prices, through quickly rising, are still relatively affordable by comparison.
